Thank you for registering your child/children for our Summer Camp Program. Our Summer Camp staff is excited about all the great activities we have planned this summer at park & recreation. We do have some administrative tasks that need your attention, please be sure you read the attached Parent and Guardian Handbook. (Hard copies will be available at camp). Once you have read the handbook please sign and return the acknowledgement form located within the handbook by the 2nd Day of Camp. On the 1st day of camp, you will be given a Camper Emergency Card this is also due on 2nd Day of Camp. Don’t forget sessions are being held at the ESSEX ELEMENTARY SCHOOL . We will have staff on site to help you with arrival – please enter using the gym foyer doors which is located to the left side of the school (near the bus turnaround)

Fridays are Field Day at Grove Street Park. Drop off and pick up will be at Grove Street Park located behind the Essex Town Hall. Should inclement weather be forecasted, camp will be held at EES. Notifications will be sent via email and posted on the Facebook by 7am Friday. Be sure we have your correct email and like us on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/SXParkandRec/

All our Summer Camp information, including weekly camp schedule, calendars, forms etc. is located on our web site. www.essexct.gov please choose the park and recreation link on the right to visit our home page. Camp Hours are 8:30a-3:00p camper pick up at 3:00p Prior registration is required For the safety of your child, please do not drop off children before 8:30am. Camp pick up will at 3:00 A 15.00 late charge will be assessed for late pick-ups . Other late fees may apply.

Also please be aware of our sign in/out procedures:

To ensure the safety of our campers, please note the following change to the dismissal routine. Upon sign-out, a staff member will bring the child to the gym foyer to meet their parent/guardian. NO parent/guardian will be permitted to enter the gymnasium, and all are expected to wait in the foyer.

Parents/Guardians must indicate on the Camper Emergency Cards those individuals who are authorized to pick up their child. Those listed MUST properly sign them out and provide proper identification. It MUST be noted on the camper Emergency Card that any camper who would like to walk or bike home after camp may sign themselves out at the end of the day. Calling the camp to notify staff of an alternate person picking up your child will NOT be accepted. Campers will only be released to those listed on the Camper Emergency Cards. In the event of an emergency and no one from the registration list can pick up a child, the password policy will be used. The alternative person picking up the child from camp MUST be aware of the password policy and know the password recorded for that child.

If parents/guardians cannot agree on the pickup list and this is brought to the attention of the camp staff, only the parents/guardians will be allowed to pick up the child/children. This will be enforced until the parents/guardians come to an agreement on a list and supply such information to the camp director. The safety of camp participants is our highest priority.

Parents/Guardians cannot alter, add, or change the registration form in any way over the phone.

Please note our camp entrance (gym foyer) is locked outside of normal drop off/pick up hours (usually 8:30-9a or 3:00pm) the only way to access the building will be to either contact the camp cell phone ring the bell for attendance or as a last resort ring for a custodian - for entry through the gym foyer, enter through the main doors of the school, All campers must be signed in/or out regardless of their time of arrival so please be sure to meet with the camp director upon your arrival if is outside the normal pickup/drop off times.
